Wavo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026
Wavo is a chat app. This policy explains what information we collect, why,
and what choices you have. We keep it short and plain because most of our
users are young people, and we think you should be able to understand it.
Who we are
Wavo is an independent project. If you have any questions about your
privacy or your data, or you're a parent or guardian who wants information
removed, contact us at
contact@builtbyjake.site.
What we collect
- Account details you give us when you sign up: your first and last name, email address, date of birth, chosen username and password.
- Content you create: messages, group chats, plans, reactions, nicknames, your profile photo and status.
- Basic usage information: when you were last active, streaks, and counts like messages sent — used to run features like presence and cosmetics.
- Reports and moderation records if you report someone or are reported, so our admins can review them.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, deliver your messages, show who's online, and power features like groups, games and plans.
- To keep Wavo safe: review reports, apply blocks, and act on content that breaks our rules.
- To let you personalise your account with themes and badges.
We do not sell your personal information, and Wavo does not show third-party ads.
Services we rely on
- Supabase stores your account and messages and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the app.
- GIPHY provides GIFs when you search for them (a GIF search is sent to GIPHY).
- Stripe processes payments if you choose to buy Premium on our website. Payments happen on the web; card details go to Stripe, not to us.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
Your choices and rights
- Block people you don't want to talk to, any time, from a chat.
- Delete your account from Settings → Account. This permanently removes your profile, messages, friends and other data from Wavo.
- Ask us to access or delete your information by emailing the address above.
Children and families
Wavo may be used by young people. We collect only what the app needs to
work. If you're a parent or guardian and you'd like us to review or delete
a child's account or data, email
contact@builtbyjake.site
and we'll help.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you
delete your account, your data is removed from Wavo. Some limited records
may remain briefly in backups before they cycle out.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this
page. Continuing to use Wavo after a change means you accept the updated
policy.
This policy is written to be clear and honest.
